Leadership Team

FMI's leadership team consists of four experienced professionals in the construction and electrical industries. Shawn Crucil, the President and a Red Seal Journeyman Electrician, manages daily operations with a focus on safety and quality. CEO Don Bayda, with a background in civil engineering, guides the company's growth strategies. Mike Douthwright, the Director of Construction and a Red Seal Master Electrician, leads and mentors the construction teams. Andre Ekkert, the Director of Project Management and a certified PMP, ensures projects meet deadlines and budgets while maintaining profitability. Together, this team brings over 55 years of combined experience to steer FMI's operations and growth.


  • President

    Shawn oversees all of FMI’s activities, reviews of day-to-day operations and ensures program quality, safety and organizational stability through development and implementation of standards, controls, systems and procedures. Shawn is responsible for the daily operations of all projects and tactical activities according to policy, procedures and contractual requirements. With nearly 20 years of experience, he ensures project site activities are safe, productive and that operations maintain efficiency to deliver a quality product to the client.

    As a Red Seal Journeyman Electrician, Shawn mentors/coordinates Site Supervisors on project requirements, provides technical support and monitors each project schedule from kick-off through to completion.


  • Chief Executive Officer

    As CEO, Don is responsible for directing and providing leadership for our company’s growth; ensuring that the company continues to develop and sustain superior performance, a dynamic safety culture, quality initiatives and solid integrity. Don oversees the company’s day-to-day operating activities that include revenue and sales growth, cost and margin control with monthly, quarterly and annual financial goal management.

    Don received his Bachelor of Science, Civil Engineering in 1994 at the University of Alberta. He also completed his Construction Industry Institute Project Management: Planning & Design and Project Construction & Start up in 2003 at the University of Texas at Austin.

  • Director of Construction

    As Director of Construction, Mike oversees, manages and provides leadership for FMI’s construction teams. He develops and implements construction strategies, policies, and procedures to optimize efficiency and productivity. Mike also provides technical support for project management and site supervision; assistance with training and mentoring and help develop, monitor, evaluate and appraise performance and potential capabilities of workers to contribute to the development of a professional team. He assists (when possible) in pre-job planning at FMI Head office and provides assistance with equipment and manpower allocation/relocation. He travels to site to assist in mobilization activities to ensure a smooth start-up project as well as providing turnaround relief for site supervision.

    Mike is a Red Seal Master Electrician with nearly 20 years of experience. He has been in a leadership position with FMI for most of those years.

  • Director of Project Management

    Andre oversees all of FMI’s Project Management efforts to ensure projects are completed on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with the contract requirements. He provides leadership for the planning, scheduling and tracking progress of FMI’s projects. As the Director of Project Management, he is responsible for project documentation and ensuring processes are efficient and profitable. Andre coordinates administrative matters to ensure projects meet contractual obligations and to uphold the terms and conditions as agreed upon. Andre analyzes and reviews contract requirements and ensure compliance as well as monitoring changes and amendments to contracts and ensure changes are implemented.

    Andre holds a Bachelor of Technology in Construction Management. He is also a Project Management Professional (PMP) with 15 years of experience. He has led our project management teams since 2018.
